Career Exploration Pathway

Each year, students work through college and career activities as part of their course requirements. Activities include individual research, group and class discussions, guest speakers, field trips, workshops, and meeting individually with staff. 

Here the highlights of what students focus on, by year: 

9th grade - Freshman Study Skills/Health/Career Exploration Course

  • Study skills
  • Understanding credits and transcripts
  • Planning high school courses to meet academic and career goals

10th grade - Sophomore Career exploration - Imbedded within English 10

  • Understanding credits and transcripts
  • Planning high school courses to meet academic and career goals
  • Introducing ROP and community college options

11th grade - Junior Career Exploration class

  • In depth college and career research
  • Understanding aptitudes
  • Planning for graduation and entrance into the post high school world

12th grade - Senior Career Exploration class and Senior Project

  • Senior Project as part of English 4 course - Detailed research on a particular career
  • Guest speakers from a variety of fields, including : Military, Community College, local businesses, industry representatives
  • Living on your own
